Behind every brand lies a story which explains its final visual representation, including the logo. Here’s our story.

Like all brands, the look and feel of Origin has changed over time, but our ethos has remained the same. Creativity has always been at the heart of what we do and today we summarise and express this in our positioning simply as “Creative thinking: creative doing".

15 years ago we were looking for a name that was both simple and reflective of what we were about as a creative agency. The name Origin was chosen as it encapsulates this; the beginning, starting-point, cause, or source, from which a thing is derived or generated – in our case marketing communications in their various forms.

Born from the name is the logo. Whilst the colon has varied punctuation uses, it is widely used as an introduction of what has gone before – the beginning or starting point. The point of connection between the name and the identity.

But the story does not end there; the colon was in fact created by removing the dots above the “I’s”  to create the colon within a custom cut version of the typeface Stone Sans. Like all the best ideas, the final solution always appears as the obvious one - belying the blood, sweat and tears it took to get there!

A picture (or in this case an animation) paints a thousand words – so we’ll leave it to “The twins” to show you more.
